What is Pre-Purchase Counseling?

This is an educational session with a certified counselor to prepare families for home ownership. We begin by looking at what kind of home you are looking for and take you right up through planning for home maintenance, upkeep, and "rainy day funds". This is done in a one-on-one counseling session where topics include financial planning, credit review, money management, estimated taxes, determining what you can afford, saving for a down payment, home inspections, fair housing, and planning for hidden costs like insurance, repairs, taxes, and more. At the end of each session the future home buyers are provided a certificate of completion to take to their lender.
